This cinema in Sanya, Hainan reimagines the movie-going experience as a full cultural journey, blending Wes Anderson’s whimsical visual world with contemporary hospitality. The design plays with Anderson’s iconic color palettes—sun-faded pastels, mustard yellows, dusty pinks, and turquoise accents—bringing a dreamlike symmetry and nostalgic atmosphere to every corner. Guests can choose to enjoy films in dine-in theaters where tailored lighting, patterned upholstery, and vintage-inspired details heighten the sense of immersion, or explore the cinema’s curated restaurants. Among them is a Yakitori venue that channels the iconic train car from The Darjeeling Limited, with narrow banquettes, wood-paneled walls, brass fixtures, and layered textiles that echo the cinematic journey across India. Together, the spaces create a seamless blend of film, food, and design, making the cinema as much a destination for dining and storytelling as it is for cinema itself.
