Sunle is a small retail tea shop with a tasting bar and a small semi private room. The materiality of the space is paramount to the design. The focus of the space is a large bar fashioned from a single slab of natural wood. The bar in turn is backed by a wall of pressed blocks of tea combined with contrasting shelves of sand blasted stainless steel. The façade maintains the textured materiality of the interior by using a grey pebble wash. Overall the space resonates with a tactile sense of the natural, while having hints of a relationship with an east Asian Zen aesthetic.
